Letter - We need to work together on our public spaces

Regarding your letter last week about concerns of traders in Brook Street (Express May 31), we are very aware of the problems that our high streets are having which is why we are working in partnership with the Wakefield City Centre Partnership.

They are finalising their Second City Centre Action Plan, with over 15 projects to be implemented in the short to medium term. What is apparent is the need for businesses to come forward with workable solutions that they can do collectively and the Council can support.

Only by working together can we make the most of the limited resources we all have. We continue to invest in the public realm - with the Springs soon to be refurbished - and we are constantly looking at ways to improve how we keep our public spaces clean, well maintained and inviting for all our citizens and visitors.
