LETTERS - Hope over history

MY daughter came up from London on Sunday for a flying visit. I took her to the railway station on Monday morning, going via the Hepworth Gallery and the Trinity Walk shopping centre, to show her the new developments since she was here last.

She was very impressed but expressed the hope that the council will look after the historic buildings in Wakefield, citing Unity Hall as an example.

After I’d seen her on to the train I went back to the Hepworth Gallery and absolutely loved the exhibitions.

I felt so proud that we had such a prestigious gallery here in Wakefield; as I looked from the window I noticed that the Chantry Chapel was open so I went for my first look inside. On from there to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park to see the new Jaume Plensa exhibition, marvellous. Aren’t we fortunate to have all these wonderful places to visit right on our doorstep?
