I WRITE regarding the Pinderfields surgeon who has escaped a lengthy driving ban.
When a businessman of my acquaintance received a driving ban, he had to pay for taxis to enable him to continue his normal working life.
Surely Catherine Parchment-Smith could do the same.
Even if Pinderfields footed the bill for the taxis, and a regular contract with a taxi firm is much cheaper than individual journeys, that would be a fraction of the cost of “cover” for Ms Parchment-Smith.
But I see no reason why she should not fund it herself - after all, an hour or so’s “overtime” in the operating theatre would pay for a great many taxis.
The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust needs a wake-up call - this is such poor PR if nothing else.
