LETTERS - Surprised at views

I WAS surprised by Mr Dainton’s comments in his letter last week (Listen to real world) especially as Paul has met the chief executive, leader, several members and senior officers numerous times over the last year to discuss a range of issues.

Balancing the needs of the district with local opinion is difficult, but is something we work very hard to try and achieve. We received over 8,700 representations through the LDF consultation. This public feedback resulted in several changes to the document and local views reshaped the proposals we are submitting to Government, including removing the proposals for Gypsy and Traveller accommodation at Owl Lane, Ossett, housing at Thornes Park, Wakefield and other proposals included in the original consultation draft.

We are always open to hearing people’s views. Local people are at the very heart of everything we do and listening is an essential part of our decision and policy making process.
