Lofthouse youngster James Fieldhouse will be England’s official mascot friend for their World Cup group match against Uruguay.

The 12-year-old will travel to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil on an all-expenses-paid three-day trip with his godfather Steve Davies, after being chosen out of more than 2,000 other applicants.

He will join the team mascot on the pitch at half-time.

James was entered into the competition, run by World Cup official partner Kia Motors, after Mr Davies bought a new Kia Picanto.

The Manchester United fan said: “Getting the chance to go to Brazil and walk out with the World Cup mascot will be an amazing experience – thank you Kia for making this possible.”
