Pupils from Altofts Junior School took part in the world’s biggest live cooking lesson, led by Jamie Oliver .
The school won a competition to take six children to City Hall in London to take part in Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution Day.
They joined 24 children from five other schools in grating up carrots and shaking up dressing which was broadcast live online to 115 countries.
Pupils were provided with aprons, graters and bowls – ready to make rainbow wraps along with the TV chef.
The third annual event was the world’s largest cooking lesson and broke the Guinness World Record for the most people cooking the same dish over 24 hours.
The focus was on inspiring children all over the world to get excited about food and cooking from scratch.
Before the event, Jamie Oliver, said: “Everyone knows that over the past few years I’ve been passionate about getting kids and young people to cook, whether in schools or at home.
“I believe that we all have a duty to teach children to understand what food does to their bodies if we’re going to make any progress in tackling obesity and diet-related disease.”
Globally almost 10,000 events across the world were registered to take part in the live cooking lesson.
Nicola Jack, the teacher who accompanied the children, said: “We got the train down on the morning and the children were so excited.
“It was such a good opportunity for them to experience cooking ,meeting Jamie Oliver and being part of a breaking a Guinness World Record.
“I am extremely proud of them, they behaved impeccably throughout the entire day.”
The food revolution day took place on Friday, May 16.
Mr Oliver added: “Now is the time to focus the energies of everyone involved in Food Revolution Day on teaching kids and keeping cooking skills alive at a time when we need them more than ever.”
