A bike used in the 1978 Tour de France by Stanley born cyclist Barry Hoban will go on show all summer at Wakefield One from next Tuesday (May 27).

Mr Hoban won eight stages of the world’s greatest bike race between 1967 and 1975.

The bike forms part of a display at Burton Street celebrating the start of Le Tour in Yorkshire in July.

There will also be a Le Grand Depart Art Walk at the museum next Wednesday (May 28) from 5pm to 7pm, plus a talk on Victorian women cyclists who donned the shocking bloomer suit.

The free talk is from 6pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday (May 27). Booking is essential, please call 01924 302700 for more.
