Bikeathon back

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research have organised a fundraising bikathon in Wakefield - Tim & Skyler Falconer prepare to set off

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research have organised a fundraising bikathon in Wakefield - Tim & Skyler Falconer prepare to set off

WAKEFIELD Bikeathon returns next month, with cyclists hoping to raise even more money to help beat blood cancer.

The annual event is usually organised by the Wakefield branch of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, but it was forced to cancel this year’s ride due to a lack of volunteers.

But the Round Table has stepped in to help run and marshall the event, which will now take place on Sunday, October 7 from 10am.

There will be two signposted routes of 13 and 26 miles along quiet country lanes from Kettlethorpe High School, on Standbridge Lane, Sandal.

Round Table Area 9 chairman, Tim Falconer, who covers the West Riding area, said: “It is important that we try and raise not only the much needed money to fund necessary research into cures for Leukaemia, but also raise the profile of the charity.”
