Bonfire night disappointment

SONY DSC

GUY FAWKES celebrations were all about the fireworks at Thornes Park at the weekend because the bonfire would not light.

Heavy rainfall the day before, meant the wood was too wet to light safely.

Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Wakefield Council’s service director for sport and culture, said “We are very sorry for any disappointment. However, we hope that visitors to the event still enjoyed the truly spectacular fireworks display, fire performers and on-site catering.”
