The 5pm to 9pm event sees two new Art & Ale exhibitions at Wakefield Beer Exchange on the Bull Ring and Harry’s Bar on Smyth Street.

Hayley Crann, a 23-year-old surface pattern designer with a passion for creating intricate hand drawings, will be exhibiting a selection of her artwork at Harry’s Bar from Wednesday, May 25 to July 26.

Meanwhile at Wakefield Beer Exchange, WE ARE is curating a final group exhibition of work from artists aged 16 to 25. The exhibition, featuring the work of creatives based in Wakefield, Edinburgh and Brighton, is part of the somewhereto_ project which is coming to the end of its funding period.

Meanwhile, an empty shop at 11 Wood Street will also be brought to life by the work of Bethany Costerd. The Sheffield based artist is using the shop to create a new site-specific installation called Fur-Line. Using the grid pattern on the floor, Bethany will use her layered disc motif to create a large scale sculptural work using plaster and felt tip pens.

Bethany will also exhibit new sculptures. Her work can be viewed from the street and will be open to the public on Wednesday for the Artwalk from 5pm to 9pm.

The Artwalk is a bi-monthly event where a variety of venues in Wakefield city centre open up their spaces to the public and fill them with exhibitions, workshops, performances and talks. See www.artwalk.org.uk for more.
