Fifteen appear in court over fatal quad bike crash

Fifteen people have appeared in court over a quad bike crash which left four young people dead.

Ryan Beal, 20, Brandon Brown, 20, Alexandra Binns, 18, and Terrie Louise Kirby, 16, died following an accident on the A6201 between Upton and Hemsworth on September 27 last year.

Fourteen men and one woman appeared at Wakefield Magistrates’ Court yesterday facing charges in connection with the crash.

Daniel Raynor, 23, from Barnsley, is charged with four counts of death by dangerous driving and two counts of dangerous driving and Matthew Todd, 21, from Barnsley, is charged with four counts of aiding and abetting death by dangerous driving.

Clark Henfrey, 19, also from Barnsley, is charged with dangerous driving and with encouraging and assisting in the commission of a dangerous driving offence.

Stephen Hebden, 22, Jacob Ward, 22, Mark Mason, 23, Nathan Jackson, 20, Jake Hackleton, 20, Jack Dickinson-Ellis, 19, and Lee Fisher, 28, all from Barnsley, Andrew Kirkwood, 32, of Dewsbury, Gemma Layton, 26, of Leeds, Sam Rowley, 19, from Sheffield and George Tomlinson, 24, and Jason Ogilvie, 26, both of Wakefield, are charged with encouraging and assisting in the commission of a dangerous driving offence.

They are all next expected to appear at Leeds Crown Court on June 1.
