Snow scene (14/01/13). Kirkhamgate (Wakefield). (W512A303)

FREEZING conditions will continue all week, the Met Office has warned.

Snow began falling last night (Sunday), and up to 10cm has been forecast by the end of the day.

A severe weather warning said temperatures would reach -5°C on Wednesday night.

And more snow is expected on Friday.

The warning said: “The public should be prepared for the risk of disruption, particularly to travel.

“This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services.”

Advice on how to stay safe in cold weather is available on the Department for Health website at www.dh.gov.uk

And priority gritting routes have been published by Wakefield Council on www.wakefield.gov.uk
