Labour held its seat in Castleford Central and Glasshoughton after winning yesterday’s by-election.
Richard Forster won with 76.6 per cent of the vote, beating Nathan Garbutt, of UKIP, who was second with 17.1 per cent.
The by-election followed the resignation of Coun Mark Burns-Williamson, who had held the seat for Labour for 15 years but was elected as West Yorkshire’s first Police and Crime Commissioner in November last year.
Turnout for the by-election was 16.93 per cent.
