A MAN who helped a killer escape after he murdered two teenage girls has been told he will be jailed.
Steven Harratt, 57, gave money, food, clothes and a satellite system to murderer Ahmed Otak just hours after he had killed in an Eastmoor flat to help the illegal Afghani asylum seeker get to Dover and flee the country.
Harrat had a very close relationship with Otak, 21, and treated his very much as a brother.
Just hours after Otak had stabbed Kimberley Frank, 17, and Samantha Sykes, 18, to death in front of his ex-girlfriend Elisa Frank, Harratt was helping him escape.
Otak forced Elisa, at knife-point, after she had seen the brutal killing of her sister and friend, into his car and drove to Harratt’s Sandal home.
There, Harratt gave Otak £250, food, clothes and bought him a satellite navigation system for his drive to Dover.
Harratt, of Willow Grove, denied the charge of assisting an offender and said he thought Otak and Elisa were going to start a new life in Birmingham.
But today (Friday) a jury of seven women and five men took less than four hours to unanimously convict Harratt.
Harratt was granted bail but Judge Geoffrey Marson warned him he to expect jail.
He is expected to be sentenced next month.
