More foster carers are needed now

PEOPLE interested in fostering have been urged to contact the council to find out more about adopting a child.

There are children across the district needing safe and caring homes, and short and long-term foster parents are needed to help them.

Coun Olivia Rowley, Cabinet member for children and young people, said: “We need committed and enthusiastic people who can provide a safe and caring home, whether permanently or for a short time. If you have room in your heart and in your home then please find out more.

“Pick up the phone and someone will be happy to talk you through what fostering and adoption involves. This commits you to nothing but could offer the opportunity of a lifetime.”

Foster parents receive between £650 and over £3,000 per month, depending on experience, and the number and ages of foster children.

They can also claim other government benefits and emotional help. For details call 08001970320 or visit www.room-in-wakefield.co.uk
