The number of teenagers being admitted to hospital with alcohol related conditions has fallen by almost 20 per cent.

Figures released by Wakefield Council show that 148 youngsters aged under 18 were admitted to hospital between March 2012 and March 2013, compared to 179 in the year up to March 2010.

But despite the fall, the city still the has the second highest number, in Yorkshire, of teenagers being admitted to hospital with alcohol poisoning and alcoholic gastritis.
