Bogus workmen are thought to have conned an elderly man from Thornes out of thousands of pounds.
Police said they believe the 85-year-old man has withdrawn around £13,500, since January, for work that has not been carried out.
A 24-year-old man from Shipley was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of fraud by false representation, but has since been released on police bail.
Detectives think three people were involved in the incident.
Crime prevention officer Chris Joyce said bogus workmen and officials use a variety of tactics to try and extract money from victims .
He said: “ People should not open the door to anyone they are not expecting, They should always check identification and call a company to check if they are in any doubt and to ask companies to make an appointment.”
