A police officer has been assaulted outside Wakefield Cathedral.
Officers were called after receiving reports that a man was trying to damage a window of the Costa Coffee shop on Northgate just after 9am this morning.
But as the officer tried to restrain the man he was attacked.
A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman confirmed that a 30-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident.
