Police on Pontefract streets after increase in burglaries

Police have been patrolling areas of Pontefract after an increase in burglaries.

Officers from the Pontefract and Knottingley Neighbourhood Policing Teams were out on the streets of Darrington, Wentbridge, Carleton and Chequerfield on Saturday following the break-ins.

A post of the force’s Facebook page said there had been “a recent spate of burglaries and theft from garages at these locations along with reports of suspicious prowlers in rear gardens”.

It added that the victims had been elderly and vulnerable.

Police warned members of the community to be alert.

The suspects are described as two white males.

One is around 6ft tall in his early 20s with short cropped brown hair. He was wearing a dark scarf around his neck and a long sleeved dark top with blue jeans.

The second man is around 5ft 6in tall, of slim build. He is pale with short, light brown hair and is thought to be in his late teens. He was wearing a blue and white patterned hooded top with a solid blue hood and light blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the offences can call police on 101.
