The route for Wakefield’s first ever marathon has been confirmed.

This week, Team OA, which is organising the event on Sunday June 29, announced the course.

Runners completing the full marathon can expect a multi-terrain two-lap route which starts and finishes at Nostell Priory, where there will also be a family fun day taking place.

Along the way, runners will head down Swine Lane then through Havercroft and Ryhill and past Navvy Lane in Notton. They will then run around Waterton Countryside Discovery Centre and , past Anglers Country Park near Santingley Lane in New Crofton before heading back to Nostell.

More than 400 people have already signed up to take part in the charity event, which will include the full marathon, a half-marathon and a fun run.

Organiser Wane Law, 43, from Team OA, said: “A lot of people have registered and we’re trying to keep the numbers relatively low in the first year so that it’s a good quality event. But we are looking for marshals.”

Visit wakefieldmarathon.co.uk for full details of the event.
