Outwood’s very own Singing Chip Man is one plaice above US singer Taylor Swift in an online country music download chart.
But Tony Fascione needs to whip up more support to batter his way through to the coveted Christmas number one slot.
The 37-year-old, who runs Tony’s of Outwood, on Leeds Road, is hoping for success with his festive country and western song, This Christmas Time.
This week it peaked at number 4 in Amazon’s country downloads and number 1 in their country new release charts after he appeared in the Express.
He said: “It’s mind blowing. I can’t believe it has done so well. It’s amazing.
“The amount of support I’ve had from my customers, my friends and my family has been absolutely brilliant - I can’t thank them enough.”
Mr Fascione, of Rooks Nest Road, has been singing since he was a child.
He has now signed with 360 Music Management and next year he will be heading to the home of country music, Nashville in Tennessee, to record with other artists.
He said: “It’s a dream come true for me.”
