UPDATE: Explosion at Tingley house

A bungalow has been destroyed in a gas explosion in Tingley.

Nearby homes on The crescent were evacuated following the incident at around 9.30am this morning.

Fire crews from Morley, Rothwell and Wakefield were immediately at the scene along with the police and ambulance service.

Northern Gas Networks have confirmed the blast was caused by a gas explosion.

It has been reported that one man has been treated for burns.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Metropolitan Ambulance Service said: “We took a call at 9.31am from the fire service at The Crescent in Tingley.

“We have got a rapid response vehicle, two ambulances, a clinical supervisor, a doctor and our Hazard Area Response Team at the scene.”
