Young dancers proved they have all the right moves when they appeared on a TV talent show.
Momentum Dance, which is based at Cathedral Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA) college in Thornes, wowed judges with their performance on Sky One’s Got to Dance.
The 12 dancers, aged from 17 to 20, impressed viewers last Sunday with their streetdance and contemporary dance moves on a zombie theme.
And they were given three gold stars by the judges, sending them through to the next round.
The group’s artistic director Eddie Copp said: “Appearing on Got to Dance is Momentum’s first venture into the television world so we are so delighted to have got such amazing feedback from the judges and the accolade of the all important three gold stars.”
Momentum Dance has been based in the city for the past 15 years, providing training and performances for both young dancers and professionals.
The group got praise from the television show’s judges Ashley Banjo from Diversity, Kimberley Wyatt from Pussycat Dolls and Aston Merrygold from JLS.
They now have to wait to find out if they have made it through to the final 30 acts, who will appear on live shows in February, with viewers voting for their favourite.
Dancer Alex Bowen added: “We have been blown over by the reaction and support of everyone who saw the show including a tweet of support from JLS.”
