Wakefield Thornes Cricket Club charity fun day

Freddie Mercury and Abba lookalikes shared a cricket field to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association last weekend.

The family fun day, at Thornes Cricket Club, raised more than £2,300 for the charity and included team challenges, a raffle games and competitions.

This year’s fancy dress theme for the four competing teams was battle of the decades.

Team’s dressed up as various pop and TV stars from the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s to take part in events including a water relay, limbo, tug of war and a

dodgeball match.

There was also a bouncy castle, children’s games, races and competitions including a boot camp.

Joe Cook, event organiser, said: “This was the best event we’ve ever done and definitely the most enjoyable.

“It was a massive team effort to get it all organised but it was for a fantastic cause and a fantastic charity.

“People were extremely generous and I would like to say a massive thank you to all those who attended.”
