Warburtons' new parkrun for children

Hundreds of youngsters will be able to get fit and keep active, thanks to a new initiative organised by Warburtons.

The firm’s Tuscany Park bakery in Normanton has launched a junior parkrun at Nostell Priory, with more than 100 children signing up for the first event in June. Children aged between four and 14 can run, jog or walk around the 2km route from 9am every Sunday.

Warburtons has organised the free weekly events in partnership with parkrun to help combat childhood obesity, which is increasing in the district’s priority neighbourhoods. The company will be donating £300,000 over three years as part of its community investment programme Families Matter, to help fund the national expansion of junior parkrun.
