The 16-year-old, from Sandal, took his painting to the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield where the Lord of the Rings star was performing with Sir Patrick Stewart in No Man’s Land.

Mum Lesley Leggetter said: “William got to show his painting to Sir Ian who signed it.”

The painting has already won plaudits for the former Crofton Academy pupil.

It was a part of a Crofton Art Academy exhibition at Artworld Gallery in The Ridings where it was voted best in show.
