Andrew Percy - Conservative candidate for Normanton

It is clear from my many conversations with local people that they people are tired of politicians promising the earth and delivering very little. That is why I will only promise what I can achieve and say what I really believe.

As a local Councillor here in Yorkshire I know that Crime and Anti-Social behaviour are top of many peoples' agenda. Many of our communities are plagued by drunken gangs of yobs who make local parks, shopping parades and street corners no go areas after dark. I want these yobs to be punished for the distress they cause local people, That's why I would increase police numbers and release the police from form filling so that they can spend their time on the streets dealing with criminals.

I would also provide the courts with greater powers to punish criminals; at present too many are released from prison far too early. It's time to start rewarding decent people and punishing the wrongdoers.

I teach in a tough Yorkshire comprehensive and so see for myself the lack of discipline in our schools. That's why I would allow Headteachers to expel violent pupils from school and ensure that hard working decent pupils are rewarded.

We need action to sort out our hospitals and we need a government that will get a grip on Immigration and fix strict limits on the number of immigrants and asylum seekers entering our country.

Having grown up in Yorkshire and been educated entirely in Yorkshire I am very proud of our county. That is why as your representative at Westminster I would put the people of Normanton first.
