SWORD-SWINGING medieval knights brought 13th century England to life.
The battle demonstrations were one of the many highlights during this year’s Walton Arts Festival.
And hundreds of families turned out in the village on Saturday to enjoy a mixture of history, music and magic in and around the grounds of The New Inn.
Walton Arts Festival chairman Jim Gervasio said: “Hundreds of people joined in the fun and were entertained by a superb array of performers.
“Exciting folk group The Hase Waits from Hull brought their unique blend of world and ancient folk music.

“As the audience swelled two 13th century knights in full armour mingled with the crowd to show something of the clothing and weaponry of the time.
“They gave two full battle demonstrations, explaining the use of different weapon systems in hand to hand combat with Hase Waits providing a musical accompaniment.
“On top of this youngsters were having their faces painted and doing craft activities.
“Everyone had a great time. We could not have put it on without the generous support of The New Inn and we will continue to work with the local community to continue to bring live arts events to the village in the coming year.”
Music was also provided by Crofton Silver Band Juniors and entertainment provided by Magic Circle magician Arif Javid.
The village pub also held Walton Beer Festival throughout the weekend.
The New Inn’s Ria Brooks said: “Everyone had a great afternoon and it was lovely to see so many families and new faces. The afternoon led to an incredibly busy night for us and felt like we had been transported to Christmas week.”
Live arts events will continue in Walton on Sunday, November 18, at The Waterton Park Hotel with Tea and Fancies - a performance by Trio Literati
