Ballet babes
TINY toes were twirling in time at St Swithun's Centre with the launch of a new baby ballet class.
Tots were following a teddy bear’s lead during the session on Friday, December 30, which saw parents and babies working in time to co-ordinate the latest moves.
Using music to help them find their rhythm, the group followed a series of simple sequences which they practised until perfect.
And the young prima ballerinas are already picking up the basic steps with ease.
Community development worker, Elizabeth Davenport, said: “The first session went really well, all the youngsters really enjoyed themselves – they are already learning to point their toes, which is brilliant.
“There were lots of smiling faces and the parents enjoyed themselves as well. The classes are designed to be really fun and it’s a great opportunity for parents to bond with their babies.
She added: “It was good to have some boys in the class as well, I think they liked all the moving around and singing and dancing.”
Sessions are open to girls and boys between one and five years old and take place at the centre, on Arncliffe Road, every Friday, from 1pm until 3pm.
Places are still available. For more information, call 01924 361212.
