Bodybuilder takes up Arnie challenge
MUSCLEMAN and gym owner Nana Manu is flying out to compete in Arnold Schwarzenegger's very own bodybuilding contest.
Mr Manu, 34, owns Xtreme Health and Fitness Gym in New Sharlston.
A four-time British champion, Mr Manu has been invited to the competition by the British Council for Bodybuilding.
Seven amateur competitors from the UK will join him in the trip to Ohio, all hand-picked for their talent in the sport.
Mr Manu said: "The option of turning professional if I win this contest is an attractive one and I will do my best to be a worthy representative of the UK."
The competition – The Arnold Amateur Classics, is arranged by Hollywood A-lister and Mayor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Mr Manu, a former printing engineer, bought the Xtreme Gym in November last year.
He said: "I bought the gym to fulfil my dreams of becoming a professional bodybuilder."
Former Mr Universe Dayo Audi introduced Mr Manu to the competitive side of bodybuilding in 2003.
Mr Manu, of South Kirkby said: "I always enjoyed training but had never thought about competing."
Mr Audi retired from competitive bodybuilding in 2008 and is currently training Mr Manu for the competition.
Mr Manu will travel to Columbus, Ohio, in early March for the competition.
