Bumper crop of show entries
GARDENERS from Horbury were invited to "grow with Joe" when a Radio Leeds gardener lent his support to the annual flower show.
Joe Maiden, the brains behind the Radio Four show Gardeners' Question Time and the best-selling video Grow With Joe, paid a visit to the working men's club on Cluntergate on Saturday.
There were more entrants than ever in this year's show, organised by Horbury and District Allotment and Garden Association, and secretary David Lowe said the event went very well.
He added: "There were definitely more competitors than usual and more visitors."
After the competition was judged the produce was auctioned, raising more than 400.
Half of the proceeds will go to the working men's club and the other half will be split between Victoria Brass Band, who played at the show, and local charities.
