Butcher's magical moment
TV MAGICIAN Paul Daniels will meet an award-winning city butcher during national sausage week.
The conjurer and his glamorous assistant Debbie McGee will meet Nigel Hofmann next week during a whistle-stop national tour celebrating the Great British banger.
The Hofmann family, who have five shops in the Wakefield district, recently won the supreme prize for their thick pork sausage at the Great Yorkshire Pork Pie and Sausage competition.
Mr Hofmann will meet the famous husband and wife team in Huddersfield some time during National Sausage Week, which begins on Monday.
And Mr Hofmann has vowed: “We will be conjuring up a new line of sausage. We will magic up a surprise but not rabbit sausage!”
Hofmann’s has a bit of history with the star-studded sausage promotion, as one of its customers was the face of a past sausage week.
Cricket legend Dickie Bird, who has been nipping into to Hofmann’s for years, helped promote the national event a year or two ago.
Mr Hofmann added: “I’m looking forward to seeing Debbie and Paul, especially with us being supreme champions. It’s great to promote sausages in general, not just ours.”
Hofmann’s will also be doing samples during the week to tempt customers into trying different varieties of sausages.
