Capping a proud day for Wakefield students as they celebrate graduating

editorial image

STUDENTS were beaming with pride this weekend at Wakefield College’s graduation ceremony.

More than 500 people attended the event at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School on Saturday.

This year’s guest speaker was former student and journalist Amy Garcia. Ms Garcia fondly recalled her time as a performing arts student at the college’s Thornes Park campus, and told how she went on to become a regional broadcast journalist working for, among others, ITV and the BBC.

Wakefield College principal, Sam Wright, said: “Our graduation ceremony is a significant occasion, not just for the college, but for the community of the Wakefield District.

“We are all justifiably proud of every single one of our students who have invested considerable time and effort in their studies - well done to everyone.”
