Car parking costs set to rise at hospitals
Car Parking at Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield........car park and public
The cost of parking at the district’s hospitals is set to rise from April 1.
A stay of up to one hour at Pinderfields Hospital will remain the same at £1.30, but the cost of two-hour and four-hour stays will go up by 10p to £2.70 and £4.
The cost of parking for between four and 24 hours will increase by 20p to £6.70.
Bosses at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust, which also runs Pontefract and Dewsbury hospitals, said the increases were in line with inflation.
Head of facilities Iain Brodie said: “We try to keep car parking charges as low as possible and in line with other hospitals across the region.
“Unfortunately we do need to review costs against increases in inflation and these changes reflect that.”
Blue badge holders can park for free at the hospitals.
Seven-day permits which cost the same as a day rate can be obtained by buying a £6.50 ticket from the pay and display machine and completing an application form.
Some wards and hospital units offer parking at reduced rates, and staff at the general office have discretion to issue free hardship permits.
People unexpectedly admitted to hospital from outpatients or A&E can have parking fees waived for 24 hours. Longer stays are considered on a case-by-case basis.
For hospital staff, the monthly parking charge for those on lower pay bands will reduce by five per cent.
There will be a five per cent increase for middle-band staff and higher paid staff, like senior managers, will see parking charges increase by 16 per cent.
