Carer denies assault on 101-year-old
Sharon-Elaine Parkinson
A CARE home worker assaulted a 101-year-old woman with dementia after becoming frustrated, a court heard.
Sharon-Elaine Louise Parkinson, 43, is alleged to have assaulted pensioner Rose Trigg while getting her ready for bed at the Ashgrove House Care Home in Sandal last June.
Prosecutor Dave MacKay told a Leeds Crown Court jury today (Tuesday): “This defendant was working at a nursing home and became annoyed at the actions of one of the residents.
“She then took out her frustrations on another resident, Rose Trigg, a 101-year-old lady, by grabbing her left arm with great force and causing extensive bruising.”
Parkinson, of Heseltine Close, Normanton denies a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
She told police that the pensioner had hurt herself by digging her nails into her own wrist.
The trial continues.
