CCTV image released by BTP after a teenager was sexually assaulted at Kirkgate Railway Station.
POLICE have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with a sexual assault on teenager at Kirkgate Railway Station.
The 14-year-old victim was waiting outside the entrance to the station when she was attacked on Friday, February 1.
PC Christopher McGlynn said: “She left the service at Wakefield Kirkgate around 6.45pm and contacted a family member to collect her.
“Near the exit of the station she was approached by an older man who propositioned her. When the victim declined his advances, the man began to touch her inappropriately.”
Afterwards, the suspect walked away in the direction of Monk Street.
He is about 20-years-old, of medium build and has shaven, strawberry blonde coloured hair.
PC McGlynn said: “After reviewing CCTV at the station we have identified a man who we would like to speak to in connection with the incident.
“This was understandably a very distressing experience for the victim, who was left incredibly upset and shaken by the man’s actions.
“We take incidents of this nature, which fortunately are rare, very seriously and are determined to find the man responsible. I’d ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or recognises the man’s pictured to contact us urgently.”
Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
