Chance to reach national stage
Sophie May Williams, 15, is through to the regional final of talent contest Open Mic UK and will compete for the chance to sing at the O2 Arena in London.
A RISING star will compete to sing in London’s 02 Arena after impressing judges in a major talent contest.
Sophie-May Williams, 15, is in the running to reach the National Final of musical showcase Open Mic UK.
The Outwood Grange Academy pupil will perform in front of hundreds of audience members and a tough judging panel in the Area Final of the contest at Dewsbury Town Hall on November 24.
GCSE pupil Sophie-May will compete against singers from across the North of England and Scotland at the event for the chance to sing at the O2 and win a cash prize.
The final could lead to national stardom for Sophie-May, who also plays piano, clarinet and saxophone.
Her mum, Debbie Williams, 47, of The Orchard, Wrenthorpe, said: “She is very excited. She is quite a shy and quiet girl really so to do all this is quite amazing. I don’t know how she does it.”
