Changes ahead for Dewsbury Road in Wakefield
Latest news...
PEOPLE have been invited to have their say on improvements to a main route into the city.
Wakefield Council is looking to introduce bus priority lanes and change junctions on Dewsbury Road to reduce delays.
It also wants to make the road safer for cyclists and pedestrians.
If the scheme is approved, work would start in the summer.
Coun Denise Jeffery, cabinet member for regeneration and economic growth, said: “One aim of this scheme is to reduce delays for people travelling to and from the city centre.
“We have put together the proposed scheme to help address some of the local and strategic issues on this stretch of road and I would urge everyone to take a look at the proposed changes and have their say.”
The consultation runs until Friday, February 1 and is available at www.wakefield.gov.uk/highwayconsultation
People can also call 0845 8 506 506 to arrange for a questionnaire to be posted to them.
