Children join The Melting Pot to make a strong statement

CREATIVE kids took part in an art project with an important message.

Children from St John the Baptist School in Normanton were joined by adults with learning disabilities from local group, The Melting Pot, to work together on the project.

The Year four pupils created the larger-than-life art work using different mediums including clay, printing and painting.

Headteacher Julie Martin said: “The week-long project wasn’t just about the art, it was important for the children to work with the adults with learning difficulties so they can understand about working with people different to themselves.

“The adults who came to visit had speech and language problems and doing art work is a great way for them to communicate.

“Everyone who took part really enjoyed it and I think everyone got a lot out of it.”
