VILLAGE GALA: The Ryhill and Havercroft annual Peace gala will take place noon to 5pm on Saturday 17 July. There will be a free table top sale in the sports hall and on the outside patio area next to the bowling green. Limited spaces are available on the inside and it will be on a first come first serve basis by booking your place. You are advised to provide your own tables. LONG MEMORIES: From the 1930's to 1950's there was an advertising hording painted on the side of one of the houses at the top of Newstead. The ad said 'Parkinson's Pills Buck You Up'. Has anyone out there got an old photo or postcard of this? If so, please contact Jack Poole on 01226 762642.
GARDENS IN BLOOM: The 2010 Ryhill and Havercroft gardens in bloom competition is to be judged at the end of July. As well as gardens, there is also a special section for hanging baskets and containers. Entry forms available from the Happy Shopper. Closing date for entries 20 July
STRAWBERRY TEA: Tomorrow, Saturday July 9 there will be a strawberry tea at the St James Centre, Ryhill from 2pm onwards. Get along and enjoy home made scones and jam and fresh double cream along with a refreshing drink, all served by ladies with a cheerful smile!
LEARNING CENTRE: Havercroft and Ryhill Community Learning Centre's new programme for 2010/2011 is now available. You can collect one at the centre, Mulberry Place, Ryhill, or call 01226 727824 to ask for one to be posted out to you. You can also call in and see the displays for new courses joining the centre in September, including 'creative textiles', 'embroidery' and 'beaded treasures'. www.havercroftcentre.com

MULBERRY CLUB: Mulberry is a community sports multi-skills club for young people with physical and learning disabilities. The next session is on Monday 12 July. Times are 6 to 7pm for juniors and 7 to 8pm for seniors.Weekly subs 1.50. New members welcome.
ACTIVITY SESSIONS: Connect3 is a free programme which aims to help overweight children, aged 16 and under, to enjoy a healthier lifestyle. Children will learn all about how they can have an active, fun life and feel happier about themselves. The programme helps families understand the importance of healthy food and how to cook simple, low cost and nutritious meals as well as how to manage their weight and easy ways to get active!
