Fire causes “extensive damage” at historic Wakefield pub
Fire at The Three Houses pub, Chevet Lane, Sandal, Wakefield
A HISTORIC pub has been “extensively damaged” by fire.
Firefighters were called to the The Three Houses Inn at Sandal at 7.30am today (Monday).
Crews from Wakefield, Ossett and Normanton tackled the blaze at the 300-year-old pub on the junction of Barnsley Road and Chevet Lane.
A fire service spokesman told the Wakefield Express: “When we arrived the building was heavily smoke-logged and it was issuing from the front of the building.”
Firemen gained entry to the listed building and brought the blaze under control.
But the spokesmen added: “It’s extensively damaged...there’s been extensive damage to the whole bar area on the first floor.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
