Firefighters rescued man from Wakefield river

A MAN was rescued from the River Calder by firefighters on Saturday night.
Emergency services were called to Chantry Bridge just after 10.30pm.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “The man was located holding onto a ladder under the bridge and brought out of the water a short time later.
“He was uninjured but taken to hospital as a precaution and is receiving appropriate care.”
The Force helicopter was also used during the rescue.
