SUBZERO temperatures have been forecast to continue into the weekend.

The Met Office said temperatures would reach lows of -5°C today and tomorrow, and warned thick fog would make visibility “very poor” for motorists tonight.

Further snow is forecast to start on Friday and continue into the weekend, and freezing winds could make it feel as cold as -8°C on Friday.

Advice on how to stay safe in cold weather is available on the Department for Health website at www.dh.gov.uk

And priority gritting routes have been published by Wakefield Council on www.wakefield.gov.uk
