Hospital nursery gets top marks
A nursery that inspires children to grow in confidence and explore other cultures has received a glowing report from inspectors.
Staff at Abacus Nursery at Pinderfields Hospital are celebrating after receiving ‘outstanding’ ratings in all categories for its latest Ofsted inspection.
The nursery, which has 44 members of staff, provides care and education for around 130 children of staff at Mid Yorkshire hospitals as well as NHS Wakefield District and South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
The news comes as the nursery starts celebrations for its 20th anniversary this year.
In their report, inspectors said the nursery provided ‘excellent provision for children’s welfare’, ensursing they grow in confidence with ‘a sense of safety, balanced by the excitement of new experiences’.
Staff are excellent role models and children ‘benefit from an immensely inclusive environment where children’s cultures are respected and celebrated’.
Abacus nursery manager Samantha Orange said: “The nursery team and I are really happy with our rating, which is testimony to all our hard work and commitment. We’re really proud of the service we provide and agree with the inspector who said that she would like to stay and play as it’s such a lovely place.”
