Join us for a festive treat
Join us for a Christmas feast
For many years the Express has teamed up with the two Wakefield Rotary clubs and Age UK to provide Christmas hampers for deserving pensioners in our city.
But this year we’ve decided to do something a little different.
Instead of collecting and distributing food we are organising a fantastic Christmas party at the Holiday Inn in Wakefield for 60 elderly guests on December 16.
Once again Rotary and Age UK are lending their support but we also have a number of other organisations to thank for helping the event take shape.
The Holiday Inn will be hosting the event for us, Reconnect will be ensuring our guests arrive and return safely on one of their volunteer-staffed buses and engineering company Joseph Rhodes have pledged a financial donation to defray some of the costs.
We’ve also secured the services of the Wakefield Music Service choir who will provide entertainment during the meal.
Everything’s in place for a fantastic party on December 16, all we need now are the guests.
If you, or someone you know, would like to be considered for one of the places, then all you have to do is fill in a coupon printed in this week’s Express.
We are giving priority to vulnerable elderly people; those living alone who have no close family living nearby.
We only have 60 places, so the sooner you reply, the more chance you have of securing a place for yourself or someone you know.
Send your nominations to Christmas Party, Wakefield Express, Southgate, Wakefield, WF1 1TE.
