Judge and jury visit alleged Steph abduction scene
THE judge and jury in the Stephanie Hammill case today examined the scene of her alleged abduction in Wakefield.
The panel of nine women and three men walked from Cliff Park Avenue towards Balne Lane where Miss Hammill got into Ioannis Revenikiotis's Mercedes thinking it was a taxi.
The jury appeared to have street plans as proscecutor Alistair MacDonald called out various street names as they walked along.
Balne Lane was closed for about ten minutes at its junction with Silcoates Street until 12.10pm on Monday, October 08.
Trial judge Mr Justice Wilkie and defence QC Malcolm Swift were also on the jury's site visit.
They were then expected to travel to Batley Road, Alverthorpe, where Miss Hammill died after jumping or falling from Revenikiotis's car, fearing she was about to be sexually assaulted.
The 29-year-old Greek engineer denies kidnapping and killing the 20-year-old travel agent on November 29, 2003.
Revenikiotis worked as a project engineer for Flanshaw-based firm TQ Environmental at the time of the alleged offences.
The trial at Sheffield Crown Court resumes this afternoon.
