M1 closed after smash near Wakefield

THE M1 has been closed following a smash involving a pedestrian.
The northbound and southbound carriageways are both closed between junctions 37 at Barnsley and 38 at Huddersfield, where the accident happened at about 12.35pm.
South Yorkshire Police said they did not know the extent of the injuries or when the stretch would be reopened.
