Man knocked down by hit-and-run driver near Cathedral Academy in Thornes, Wakefield

A MAN suffered head injuries after being knocked down by a hit-and-run driver.
The 50-year-old man was checking his car on Thornes Road, near Cathedral Academy, when he was hit by another vehicle.
The driver failed to stop and the man was taken to Pinderfields Hospital.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The incident happened at around 11am and the road, between Thornes Moor Road and Gill Sike Road, was closed for almost three hours.
Police are now appealing for witnesses.
Officers would also like to speak to the driver or anyone who may be able to identify them.
