Snow is expected to fall in Wakefield for most of the weekend.
A severe weather warning issued by the Met Office today said up to 10cm could fall, starting in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
It said the snow would become heavier on Saturday, when temperatures will drop to -2°C.
A bitter breeze could make it feel as cold as -7°C, and the freezing conditions are expected to last into next week.
The Met Office warning said: “The public should be aware of the potential for significant disruption, particularly to transport and to power supplies.”
