MISSING: Shannon Matthews.

THE search for a missing nine-year-old school girl entered its third day yesterday.

Shannon Matthews was reported missing from her home on Moorside Road, Dewsbury Moor, Dewsbury on Tuesday afternoon.

Her mum, Karen, said: “Shannon, if you’re out there, please come home. We love you to bits, we miss you so much.

“I’m begging you baby, please come home.

“Shannon, you are not in trouble, darling, please come home.”

She said Shannon was her beautiful princess daughter and pleaded for her safe return.

More than 250 police officers and 60 detectives have been drafted in to find the youngster, who has never gone missing before.

Det Supt Andy Brennan said they were investigating three sightings reported by the public and that he couldn’t be more worried for Shannon’s safety.

He appealed for Shannon to contact her family, friends or the police as soon as possible.

Shannon is white, around 4ft 1in tall, with shoulder length, medium brown hair, possibly tied up in a ponytail.

She is slim, with blue eyes and freckles.

She was wearing a black school jumper with a school logo on it, a white cotton T-shirt, black trousers and a black waist- length coat with fur around the hood. She was also wearing pink and grey ‘Bratz’ furry boots.

Anyone with information should contact police on 01274 373737 or text via 07786 200806 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
